Meet Dr. Brian Potocki

Brian Potocki, DDS, MSD

Creating relationships with the broad range of patients who I get to see is such an enriching experience. We get to see them about every two months over the course of their active treatment with us. It's really great to get to know them over that time so we can more deeply share the enjoyment that comes with completing the treatment.

That day—when we debond the braces—is the most exciting for me. The patient is so thrilled to see their new smile without braces and is looking forward to a life of being proud to show it off to the world. I get the same thrill but I also get the added bonus of knowing that the patient is set up for a lifetime of healthy oral function to go along with the beautiful smile. I feel very fortunate to be in this position to provide that type of service for my patients and it makes me look forward to coming to the office each and every day.

My team and I strive every day to make each patient feel like they are part of our family. Communication is key for us to accomplish this, so we make sure each patient and parent are informed exactly of what is happening at each appointment and how it fits into the overall plan. We combine all this with an expectation of excellent clinical results.

Education

I grew up outside of East Lansing, Michigan. Following my family tradition and a strong love for the maize and blue, I attended the University of Michigan. After achieving my undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences, I was accepted to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. From there, I chose to serve my country, continuing my career as an Officer of the United States Air Force.

I completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, before serving three years as a general dentist at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico. Upon the completion of my service with the Air Force, I was accepted to the orthodontic residency program at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, achieving my certificate in orthodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry.

Family and Community

I am lucky enough to be married to Dr. Melisa Potocki and we have three beautiful daughters, Ewa (it's Polish!), Emilia (Millie), and Eleanora (Nora). My brother is Dr. Jon Potocki, an orthodontist about an hour away in northern Ohio and my father is Dr. Mark Potocki, a dentist in Stockbridge, MI, so there is no shortage of Potocki doctors in the area!

When I’m not spending time with my family, I’m striving to achieve a perfectly crafted pizza. My other hobbies include ice hockey, fishing, traveling, skiing, kiteboarding, and exercise.

I also sponsor a local adult league hockey team and am always looking to help programs that promote the confidence and individualism in children in our community. The community support for our office is what allows us to make a living doing what we love, so giving back whenever possible is incredibly important.

Personal Statement

Being an orthodontist is my dream job. I am fortunate that I get to go into work each day and genuinely be excited about the things I am doing. It means so much to me that I can provide a positive impact on not only a patient’s oral health but also their confidence, attitude, and self esteem.
